Master of Ceremonies was WFMN Meteorologist, Eric Chilton. Miss North Carolina, Brooke McLaurin, provided vocal entertainment. Pageant contestants' opening number was performed to "One" from "A Chorus Line." Additional entertainment was provided by Mary Alice McMillian as well as CC Dance Company. During the Talent Competition contestants displayed a wonderful range of creativity. Amy Lynn Hewitt, a student at UNCG, performed a vocal piece called "Gia il sole dal Gange." Toni Nocole Shaffer, a student at McMichael High School, performed a Jazz Dance to "Celebration" by Kool & the Gang. Jamie Leigh Fulp, a student at Rockingham Community College, performed a Clogging Routine to "Rocky Top." Charity Nicole Garvin, a student at Morehead High School, performed a Lyrical Dance to "I Need An Angel" by Ruben Studdard. Mallorie Margaret Price, a student at McMichael High School, performed a vocal rendition of "I Feel Lucky" by Mary Chapin Carpenter. Summer Bess Evans, a student at UNCG, performed a Jazz Dance to "Roxie" from "Chicago." Katherine Marie Barber, a student at Rockingham Community College, performed a Comedy Skit. Megan Denise Rhodes, a student at Gilford Technical Community College, performed a Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Jazz combo to "When you're Good to Mama" from "Chicago." Judges for the event were Bobby Edwards (involved with Miss Roanoke Rapids Pageant for 12 years, Miss America Preliminaries, Little Miss Tean and other festivals in North Carolina and Virginia); Angie Bollinger (native of Sanfore, NC, Masters Degree in Exercise Science and Arts, extensive training in dance, theater, voice and music, is the reigning Ms. Carolina Dogwood Queen, also has been invaled with Miss America organization); Amanda Hodges (competed as Miss Kinston Lenior County in 2003 in the Miss NC Pageant, as won both Miss NC and Miss America Scholarship Awards, served as judge for Miss NC Preliminaries and festival Pageants across the state); Brad Laub (resides in Fayetteville, NC, has a Bachelors in Fine Arts Management and Business, extensive training and has been involved in theater for over 8 years, has judged pageants all over NC); Barbara Collins Golding (resides in Reidsville, NC, sings with the Rockingham County Community Chorus and runs the Baptist Church Choir, has modeling experience, has directed local pageants, was Miss Wentworth HS, Miss Tri-City, Miss Reidsville Lucky and a finalist in the Miss NC Pageant); and Joan Hackman(active in community theater as an actress, stage manager, and director with Center Stage Theater and Stagestruck, has been a board member for the miss Goldsboro Scholarship Pageant). In addition to the Talent Competition, contestants also competed in the Physical Fitness in Swimwear Competition, Evening Wear Competition, and the On Stage Interview Competition. Final walk and farewell comments were made by Miss Rockingham County 1972, Vicky Vaughn Boyer. Special awards were given for "Miss Congeniality" and "Most Talented." Mallorie Margaret Price, a student at McMichael High School, was crowned Miss Rockingham County 2006. Link to host organization |
